and finally,

What sort of video’s do you make?

All of my creative team have broadcast experience and have worked on documentary, drama, comedy, children’s and news & current affairs. We have lots of creative and technical experience with expertise in studio and location filming with the BBC.
The type of video we make depends on what our client wants to achieve, how they plan to use the video and who the video is aimed at.

What’s your background?

Before starting Web Video Creatives I worked for the BBC. I started as a film editor at Ealing Film Studios, became a location and studio director working at BBC Television Centre and then finally worked as a Producer and Series Producer with BBC Learning and CBBC.

Why should businesses put video on their web site?

All the research shows that video can do so much to attract and keep visitors at your site.
Also it will play on just about every computer, tablet and smartphone unlike some other media. Thats important considering the way people are watching video content.
in 2012 the UK online video audience grew by 8 percent and watching video on smartphones grew by 262 percent. (comcast) With the introduction of 4G phones and other improvements in technology it can only grow more so getting started with video now means you will still be ahead of the game.

My view is that the web offers businesses such a great opportunity to reach their clients / customers and that you have to look beyond the traditional “promo” and find inventive ways to engage visitors to your site. That could be a through a video blog, a product demo or a “how to” video. Each of these will potentially give your site a much more attractive presence on the web and research shows that video is more likely to result in visitors staying longer on your site.

What is video coaching?

Video coaching is a service for businesses that want to make their own videos. It’s a mix of face to face basic training on how to script for your shoot, video camera techniques and basic editing that will enable those making their own content to get a much better and professional looking result. We also provide a support service to help when or if problems arise.

More details about video coaching can be found on the “learn” section of our web site just click on the “Learn” icon at the top right of this page.

Why would a company want to have video coaching, why not just let the professionals do it?

For companies that can afford it the professional option is always the best and as a TV professional I would love all companies to come to me and commission me to make all their video output. The thing is in the real world that is not going to happen and what I have recognised is that there are a lot of businesses out there who want to exploit the opportunities that having video on their site will bring but just dont have the money to hire a production company to do it.
The answer for those companies is to consider making their own videos “in house”.

There are many benefits:
its up to you what you do and how you do it - you can keep it simple such as doing a video blog in front of your camera or you could do something more ambitious like demonstrate one of your products.
You can be topical by doing a weekly or monthly video that reflects maybe something new in your business or an invite for a special offer.
You can be quickly responsive to your customers or clients again by making and publishing your video on a regular basis
finally, once you are set up it’s inexpensive to do and will become a routine part of your marketing effort.

Having video will make your web site come alive, you’ll see an instant difference and the phrase “a little often”  is a healthy way to think about when you should put video on your web site.
